Legends of the era

John Stryker Meyer

Green Beret. RT Idaho. Across the Fence.

John Stryker “Tilt” Meyer joined MACV-SOG in May 1968 as the radio operator of Spike Team Idaho and went on to lead the team. Over two tours, he ran recon missions across the fence into Laos and Cambodia.

SOG men signed a 20-year secrecy agreement. When it ran out, Meyer began telling their story, first in his book Across the Fence and now on his podcast, SOGCast. The RT Idaho Tee carries his team’s name.
